Just left a large electronic store with dozens of Ipod/Iphone docks.

I’m impressed. I very rarely write reviews, so trust me when I say I was TRULY impressed.

Wife wants one with a small footprint, nothing fancy just a way to play the Iphone (3G) in the kitchen with good sound and not gawky like a big boombox — and not miss incoming calls, etc. Walked around plugging my phone into the docs and playing songs on the compatible ones. The JBL’s are well made and sound good, though others not as good as this one. Most other brands sound predictably tinny and very few work with the Iphone, esp. without using Airplane mode (disabling the phone – GSM is very bad to cause RF interference) This one sounds great. I actually wouldn’t pay extra for the much bigger Bose units, and by the way the Bose and some futuristic looking and also much bigger Altec Lansing product (that wouldn’t interface with the Iphone) were the only ones of the models more expensive than this one that I’d even consider close competition for it from audio quality standpoint.

And in fact at low/normal volume levels I still prefer the sound of this unit, especially the bass, to even those more expensive units mentioned above. Rivals your average small multi-satellite+subwoofer units (and blows away anything of this compact size I’ve ever heard), in an amazingly compact and svelt footprint.

And I can vouch that it is compatible with iPhone 3G. Didn’t try to receive calls on it but other reviewers have addressed that.

You don’t get the frills of alarm, AM/FM or a digital display, but lack of an LCD screen only makes it that much cleaner in my opinion.

Which Dock Is for You?
JBL’s been in the iPod dock business for awhile, so it’s no surprise that the company has crafted enough models to keep up with an ever-increasing army of iPod owners. Which one is right for you? Well, that depends what kind of pod person you are:

For the Power Hungry
For those who seek more volume, the On Stage 400ID should be your first stop. At 2×15 Watts, it’s the loudest and largest of the bunch, and features an Atlas woofer for added bass. But size isn’t everything–the On Stage Micro boasts the same wattage rating without the woofer.

For the Weekend Warriors
Those who need a dock that they can take anywhere should investigate docks that can be powered by batteries. The On Stage Micro runs on four AAAs, whereas the On Stage IIIP and On Stage III run on six. Take your music to the beach, on camping trips–wherever you can’t bear to be without it.

For the iPhone Techies
The iPhone owner–if you can stand to put the thing down–has a couple choices. The On Stage IIIP provides a smaller and more portable option, or the On Stage 200ID gives a bit more power. These two docks support all docking iPod models as well.

JBL Speakers have always been one of the best on the market. Costco used to carry this item for several years before I had an iPod. A couple of years ago they stopped carrying it in stock. Shortly after that I got an iPod. Consumer Reports said this iPod dock by JBL has equal or BETTER sound than the Bose iPod dock for less than half the price of the Bose!
Thank God for Amazon when it came to finding this item. I actually bought 2 of them! One for myself and one for a Christmas gift!
You can’t miss on this JBL iPod Dock! Very simple, well made, and the sound is superb. Whether you listen low or want to crank it up to fill the room with sound. I listen to classical music, country, bluegrass and classic rock. If you’ve got an iPod, this is the dock you want!

amazing sound from small item – JoeManFL –
I bough this unit after listening to it and a few of its competitors on a dsiplay I found at Target. The display had a selector button you could press to hear the various manufacturer’s units. I was surprised honestly to find such a nice display at a Taget store. That really helped me make my mind on which speaker to buy. They also had the Bose unit there. Frankly the JBL and the Bose sounded the best – but the JBL is 1/3 the price.

I bought this particular unit and set it up in less than 3 minutes. The whole family was surprised how good the sound was. It has really remarkable base for such a small unit. I just bought a brand new 64GB iTouch and I can report that it works flawlessly with this unit. The remote also works fine. I had been concerned as to whether the iTouch would fit snuggly on the base – it does. JBL includes in the box little rubber spacers that attach to the plastic semi-cirlce on top of this unit – including a slightly thicker one for use with the iTouch.

Well, it works perfectly, the iTouch fits very snugly in there. To change songs or playlists, you can either use the remote or the iTouch – either works fine.

I’m not sure about the other reviewers claims of distortion at high volume. I can tell you that the volume on this unit is as high as I would want it to go for a 20′ x 25′room under normal listening conditions.

If you want to have a dance party with 20 people this is not a unit for that… get some big speakers if that is what you want to do…but it would be silly to expect that from a small unit like this.

The bass is decent, the wide stereo separation rocks, and it doesn’t distort at full volume. I am listening to it as I type, and loving it! Logitech speakers and Amazon — Not Good Match – john miller – Loudon, TN, US
I bought the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 speakers for my new Ipod Touch. What a catastrophe!! I cannot keep the thing playing for more than two minutes because it keeps switching itself off. When it plays, it is OK except that I can use the remote ONLY for the sound level. Trying to use it for the menu does not work. I have to do that manually at the IPod. A nuisance to say the least. But the constant self-switching-off is the biggest hassle. It is frustrating. The directions tell that it may switch off after two minutes –IF MUSIC IS NOT PLAYING. Well, mine switches off during music play. Naturally, Logitech does not have a toll-free number for phone support. It gives a long distance number. The on-line support for Logitech makes it difficult to make sense of. I insert all the personal info requested then it keeps telling that my email address “does not appear to be a correct email address.” Well, I have had my gmail account for many years and it works everywhere else. Trying to get Amazon help also is useless, so don’t waste your time on that. You will only get some guy advertising online who will charge you to fix a new product! Hopeless. Returning the thing to Amazon is not easy either. It is so much of a hassle I am keeping mine and will put up with it. However, I will offer this advice from what I have learned: BUY AT YOUR LOCAL WALMART OR BEST BUY. At least you can get help there or return if not satisfied — without all the hassle and frustration. It is goodbye Amazon for me, forever. And goodbye to Logitech products. Customers should not be treated this way!!!!!!!

Speaker shuts off unexpectedly – P. Hashimoto –
I purchased many things from Amazon, but this is the first time I returned a product I purchased to Amazon. At first, I liked this iPod speaker because of its compact size and good sound quality. I thought it perfectly fit my needs in terms of portability, sound quality etc. However, it had a major flaw. It shuts off whenever music plays softly for more than, say, two minutes. According to Logitech’s explanation, it is a feature to save battery power. But in my opinion, Logitech misjudged customer requirements in this case. I enjoy classical music. So, quite often my music plays softly for a long time. Frequent shut offs became so anoying that I had to return this product.

I still think Logitech is a good company that offers many good products overall. Thanks for asking me to express my opinion.

Perfect for the OR – Mike – PA
I have been looking for a compact speaker system for the operating room for quite awhile that was both rechargeable and could recharge my iphone while in there. This is perfect.

The only complaint I have is that the remote response time is often sluggish and the buttons on top of the unit are very stiff making it difficult to increase or lower the volume in small increments.

Otherwise, the thing is all i wanted!

Sony SRSGU10iP 2-Channel Dock speaker for iPod and iPhone (Black) Review



I got these speakers to replace a JBL set that had died. I’m pleased overall.

The full ipod function remote is a great feature. I hate having to get up to operate my ipod when I’m working and the ability to do it from across the room is a bonus. The sound quality is good. I use it in a room that’s roughly 20×20. It’s definitely loud enough for the room and can go louder. It doesn’t have “perfect” balance. The treble could be a little better/cleaner, but its not something you notice unless you are listening at top volume.

The only other drawback for me is size. I have a relatively cramped space that this speaker set sits in and it’s a little big for my taste, but that is compared to the small, low profile JBL speakers that I had before.

Overall a great choice for the money. It was significantly less than comprable docks and does a good job of charging and playing my ipod.
